Exploring one thought at a time

About

Uthra Umashanker

Between Thoughts was founded by Uthra Umashanker, a licensed clinical psychologist with training in both the United States and India. She completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University and went on to pursue her postgraduate degree and M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology in India.

At the core of her work is a deep belief that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change. Healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood. With this in mind, Between Thoughts Therapy is committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with openness and trust.

The approach at Between Thoughts is person-centered and collaborative, with each therapy journey tailored to the individual’s unique needs, pace, and goals. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, therapy here honors the complexity of each person’s story.

What We Offer

Therapy offers a supportive space to work through emotional challenges, understand patterns in thoughts and relationships, and develop healthier ways of coping.

We provide individual therapy for adults, as well as relationship and family therapy, depending on your needs. Sessions may focus on concerns such as anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, life transitions, or relationship difficulties.

The process is collaborative and paced according to your comfort, helping you build insight, resilience, and a stronger connection with yourself and others.

Psychological testing provides a deeper understanding of emotional, behavioral, learning, or personality-related concerns.
We offer comprehensive assessments for children to explore developmental, learning, attention, and emotional needs, as well as psychological evaluations for adults to better understand personality patterns, emotional functioning, or diagnostic questions.
Using structured tools, clinical interviews, and observation, the process highlights strengths, areas of difficulty, and practical recommendations for support.
